I grew up in Buffalo, N.Y. and learned to love the snow. One problem I have is that when it snows I really struggle to work. There’s just too much to do outside. So could you please help.

FROM Jacob Barnett of Roodhouse:

“I have recently had a set of whitetail deer shed antlers stolen from my house. They are a very noticeable typical set scoring in the mid 190`s as an 11-point set. Also has been stolen is a Benelli 12 gauge shotgun with the Max 4 HD camo on it. I am very sick that somebody would stoop that low too steal a set of antlers that are ireplaceable.. Please keep an eye out for this awesome set. The Law is involved with this so any leads would be greatly appreciated. If you see a set for sale from Illinois. Please notify me (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)). it is possible they might have an address from Brighton, Ill or the Modesto, Ill. area.”

FROM James Wenger:

“Why can’t the DNR take a survey as how to best improve our deer season from ALL the hunters who were permit holders last season (2009)? As we are the ones out there hunting and buying the permits. This would go a long way toward a better relationship between the DNR and the hunters, as we would have our input as how best to improve the deer season. With the end result benefiting both the DNR and the hunter. It’s a win-win for both.”

FROM Mitch Strode:

“I just wanted to drop you a line or two about a rumor that has been going around in my area the last week or so. It is being said that because of the very poor deer harvest this year that the IDNR is going to open up the late gun season for more than the 31-3 Jan. and 15-17 Jan. As this rumor goes hunting will be each weekend till Jan. 17. You know how this kind of thing goes around and gets started. I have done my best to squash it when ever I can but I still keep hearing it from different people that swear it is true. So I guess what I am asking is could you lend a hand in taking this rumor out. I would hate to see somebody get a ticket because he listened to Joe Smoow at Farm King and gun hunted on the wrong weekend.”

FROM Eric Swanson:

“I live in London Mills and my wife and I have seen a cougar around here along with several others. I have a picture of a track taken by Bridget Gray south east of London Mills. What you may not know is a cougar was hit by the prison in Galesburg a few weeks ago. According to a witness the police had to finish it off and it had a tag in its ear. The game warden took the animal and advised the witnesses to keep it quiet for fear of panic. The police wrote it as a deer kill for insurance. My problem is the accounts from the Iowa about the cougar over there being wild because of a lack of a tag in the ear. What does that mean? I think they have indeed released cougars and are covering it up.”

FROM Frank Williams:

“I just saw that story posted on your lead page about the big cats in Pike County. I received an e-mail about those cats. Unfortunately the story came out of Idaho and was talking about the benefits of having a remote start for your vehicle.”
