Monster Wisconsin “typical” goes down
Remember that monster typical buck captured on video this summer in Buffalo County Wisconsin?
Well the big 16-point buck won’t be starring in any more live-action videos.
Bowhunter Bob Decker of Eau Claire, Wisc. shot the buck on Nov. 1 during his first hunt of the season, according to Paul Smith of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The buck, which became known as “The Field and Stream” buck due to video that was widely distributed this summer, is expected to score around 200 inches according to taxidermist Jack Dodge of Eau Claire. Mel Johnson of Metamora holds the typical archery record with his 204 4/8-inch buck shot in Peoria County in 1965.
A veteran scorer said Decker’s buck would likely fall short of Johnson’s as a typical rack due to deductions and could well be scored as a non-typical rack. The deer has 14 points and two smaller sticker points. Record or not, this is one massive buck.
