Doe flattens sign, but dies

October 19, 2009 at 09:48 AM

Here’s a wild one from reader Eric Edwards.

“I awoke this morning, got all my gear and headed out to one of my hunting spots near Farmington. With the cool temps and and calm winds I was very excited to get out this morning and get set up. So excited I did not even see the sign I see so often leaning sideways. I got out of my truck and began to grab my bow and it was then I caught a glimpse of something abnormal. I looked down 5 feet from where I stood and there lay a poor mature doe piled up around the sign. I thought to myself, was this a sign of what is to come this morning. So I hurried and headed out. I did see three does and three fawns in the morning hunt.

“As I returned to my truck empty handed, I thought I might as well shoot some pictures of this tragic accident. This doe had to be running full force or forced by a vehicle. It snapped the sign at it’s base. I personally think it may have been running straight out from a 30-point buck, but who knows. It sure seems this poor doe was going faster than 25 miles per hour to snap this sign from the ground!”
