Do you know these bucks or hunters?

January 28, 2009 at 01:09 PM

The sorting of e-mails continues. A few appear to have slipped through the cracks. This one is a good example. Who is this guy with this nice Illinois buck? Any ideas out there? The hunter’s name may be Lambert. Anybody know more about this one?

As for this one, all I know is that it was killed in Clark County. Another nice mystery buck that deserve to have a hunter’s name to go with the picture.

A bunch of big Iowa bucks

January 28, 2009 at 06:56 AM

This has been an amazing year for deer hunters in Iowa. We’ve already featured numerous trophies, but here are some more from the past season. And remember, this post doesn’t even include the pair of bucks already posted that should top 260 inches.

This 32-pointer was reportedly shot 20-30 miles north of Lineville, which is located in the southeastern part of the state.

Then there’s the Lockridge Monster, also know as the Fairfield Buck. Judging by the pictures, I’m guessing the young lady shot this buck. Incidentally, Fairfield, Iowa is also in the southeast corner of the state. The buck is listed as being killed in Jefferson County on Boone and Crockett Club’s Trophy Watch page.

Oh, just so you don’t think Iowa is immune to out-of-state hunters, read the following. Greg Simms saw a big buck on his Smart Scouter camera and headed off to Iowa from Arkansas. Then he arrowed this 8 x 7 buck in Davis County on Oct. 24. The buck is expected to gross 190 inches and net around 180. Boone and Crockett notes that Davis County ranks No. 15 in Iowa for typical entries and No. 16 for non-typical entries.

Then there’s this 190-inch bowkill from near Sumner by Kevin Korman.

Awesome trail-cam picture

Tricked you. This one comes courtesy of Gary Carter Jr., who said the picture kind of “sums up the way this year has gone.” The coyote in the picture was photographed in Scott County. Now if this was a bear we’d really be getting to the bottom of an age old question.
