Week 4 archery deer total so far: 17,967

Four weeks into the season, Illinois archery deer hunters have killed a preliminary total of 17,967 deer.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources released the weekly figures Monday that include deer taken through Sunday, Oct. 27.

Preliminary harvest through the same period last year was 19,225.

Sex ratios to date consist of 66 percent does (11,838) and 34 percent males (6,129).

The top five counties were Pike (673), Fulton (510), Jefferson (459), Vermilion (366), and JoDaviess (365).
