HENNEPIN - A suburban Chicago man found dead Sunday evening in a fishing boat anchored in an Illinois River backwater about two miles south of Hennepin died from natural causes, authorities said.

David L. Hornback, 56, of S. Elgin, was pronounced dead by the Putnam County death investigator after police found him at about 7:40 p.m., said Robert Frazier, Region 1 commander of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police.

Hornback had left home to go fishing at about 6 a.m. Saturday, and his wife filed a missing person's report at 6 p.m. Sunday, Frazier said. Peru police alerted conservation officers to the statewide report, and a search resulted in the discovery.
An autopsy found that Hornback died from a medical condition, Frazier said. No foul play is suspected.
