DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources wants to help novice anglers catch more fish.

The agency has created a series of online videos designed to teach fishing to people with little knowledge of the activity.

Topics include tackle and bait selection, finding the right location and when the fish will be biting.

The first video is an introduction to crappie fishing. It focuses on fishing for crappies during the spawn.

To see the video, go to http://www.iowadnr.gov/fishing and click on Catch Crappies NOW on the right side of the page.

Later videos will focus on catching bluegills, largemouth bass and channel catfish.
