Dickson Mounds winter gathering this Saturday

Dickson Mounds Museum will host its second annual Winter Gathering from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday.

The event will feature a variety of traditional American Indian activities and demonstrations, including storytelling, music, group games and dances, and crafts. 

American Indian vendors will open with morning activities beginning at 10 am. 

Lunch will be available at the Museum from noon - 2 p.m. followed by drum music marking the opening of the afternoon activities. 

Participants will journey to Dorothy’s Grove to honor and remember ancestors and view a special pipe ceremony. 

The event is open to the public and admission is free. 

There will be activities for all ages.

Visitors are welcome to bring their own flute to participate in flute circles throughout the day. 

The Illinois State Museum - Dickson Mounds is located between Lewistown and Havana off Illinois Routes 78 and 97.
