Clint Kessler shot this 13-pointer in Clay County, on Nov. 15 during an evening hunt the night before gun season.

He named it the unicorn buck because of the nontypical tine sweeping in front.

This was his third encounter with this buck that had a 160-inch gross green score.

From Christopher Lee Gibbs: “I am a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. who has served in Ramadi, Iraq.

My Dad had handed down his bow of which he bought from Presley’s South Side Worm Ranch for 200 bucks, before I was even born in the early 80’s.

With that, I decided to take on bow hunting as I was an avid shotgun hunter and avid duck hunter who was eager to try a new challenge.

As I attended Western Illinois University, I joined the WIU Archery Club and kept practicing with the bow which is close to a 100 pound pull and has no let off.

Over the years, my buddies had continued to criticize me (in a joking way), that I would never kill a buck with such a dinosaur bow such as that; however, it paid off as you can tell.

It doesn’t matter what the equipment is, but how you can use it!”
