Armstrong High School tops in state high school archery finals

Armstrong High School took first place in the 2012 National Archery in the Schools Program Illinois State Championship held March 24 at the Orr Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

Armstrong, located northeast of Champaign, scored 3,257 points out of a possible 3,600 to claim the title.

Shawn Reardon was Armstrong’s top archer, scoring 289 out of a possible 300. His score also was tops among male competitors.

Brooke Markwalder, also of Armstrong, was the top female archer scoring 286.

Schlarman Academy High School: 2.987 in Danville was second overall with 3,185

Roberto Clemente Community Academy in Chicago was third with 3,117.

1. Georgetown Ridgefarm Jr. High School: 3,053

2. Schlarman Academy Jr. High School: 2,987

3. Jefferson Middle School: 2,881

Grades 4-6

1. Georgetown Ridgefarm Elementary: 2,743

2. Armstrong Ellis Grade School: 2,450

A total of 25 teams in all grade levels competed.
