Foiles seeks to have sentence reduced

Waterfowl hunting guide and Fallin’ Skies video producer Jeffrey Foiles wants his sentence reduced because his attorneys say he has taken responsibility for his actions.

But the government disagrees, pointing to statements Foiles made and e-mails sent since he entered into a plea agreement earlier this summer that would send him to jail for 13 months and cost him $100,000 in fines.

The comments and e-mails attributed to Foiles could work against him in court Wednesday, when he is scheduled for sentencing.

He already has pleaded guilty to routinely shooting over his limit of ducks, selling illegal hunts and keeping false records.

Paperwork filed in U.S. District Court Tuesday afternoon includes the government’s response to Foiles’ attempt to have his penalties reduced.

Foiles is to be formally sentenced at 3 p.m. Wednesday. The Court will decide then whether or not to accept the original plea agreement.
