Lake Springfield’s big blue catfish put tournament anglers over the top – again.

Bob Hibbs and Greg Severe won the most recent Lake Springfield Open Buddy Catfish Tournament Series event June 25 with a total weight of 103.43 pounds.

The duo also took big fish honors with a blue catfish weighing 51.84 pounds.

The blue catfish caught by Hibbs and Severe would have been enough to claim first place.

The second place team of Mark and Bill Bozarth weighed a total of 46.20 pounds.

Third went to Tony Killron and Rick Miner with 42.42 pounds.

Tournament anglers brought six blue catfish to the scales.

“That’s pretty good, especially with the weather,” said Willie Schrader, tournament director.

Some boats had to pull out when a storm blew through.

The next tournament will be held July 16 starting at 6 p.m.

Sign up at the Lindsay Bridge Boat Ramp by 5:15 p.m.
