Snow geese on the move

Snow geese are on the move through Illinois.

Tuesday’s aerial census showed about 125,000 snows near Stonington in south-central Illinois and another 500,000 south of Springfield.

All birds appeared to be headed west.

Only a scattered 38,925 snows remain in southern Illinois. Here’s the complete census:

And there have been few reports in north-central Illinois, where icy snow covers much of the ground.
