OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) - Sharpen those spears and pull on your boots. It’s time to hunt sturgeon in Wisconsin.

The state’s sturgeon hunting season begins Saturday on the Lake Winnebago system. State wildlife officials the prospects for taking some big ones are good. Crews on Lake Butte des Morts (beaut’-deh-more) netted several fish over 190 pounds last fall, signaling some monsters are out there.

They say they’ve sold more than 10,000 spearing licenses. The harvest caps for the system are 350 juveniles, 740 adult females and 1,000 males.
