Thieves target hunting gear

McDonough County Voice

The McDonough County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s help to solve the thefts of hunting equipment.

The stolen items include hunting stands, trail cameras, hunting blinds, decoys and other miscellaneous hunting equipment.

The thefts total thousands of dollars, according to McDonough County Sheriff Rick VanBrooker.

Crime Stoppers and the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office are encouraging residents to report any criminal activity in rural areas.

Anyone who has information regarding these thefts, or any other crime, may call Crime Stoppers at 309-836-3222 or 1-800-222-TIPS.

Tips can also be submitted online at http://www.macombareacrimestoppers.com.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.

All tips may be submitted anonymously.

set up 2 trailcams with strongbox and cable locks out at Sangchris and they along with chair and a few other items were stolen.  Had to of taken bolt cutters in with them.  These were gifts from loved ones.  Thieves are the bottom of s**t buckets.
