Prairie State Outdoors

The Nature Conservancy will offer waterfowl hunting at its Emiquon Preserve three days a week this fall from Oct. 27 - Dec. 25.

Hunting will be allowed until noon every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday during the regular Central Zone waterfowl hunting season.

Daily drawings will be held at 5:15 a.m. on hunting days.

The 7,100-acre Emiquon Preserve is located six miles southeast of Lewistown in Fulton County.

Drawings will be held at Dickson Mounds Museum’s Eveland Village Site near Emiquon.

After entering Dickson Mounds Museum through the main entrance, turn left to get to the Eveland Village Site.

Hunters must register for the drawing from 5 - 5:15 a.m.

A valid hunting license and waterfowl stamps are required.

Young hunters under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Advanced drawings are available for the youth waterfowl hunt to be held Oct. 20 and hunts for those with disabilities on Oct. 31, Nov. 2, 21 and Dec. 5.

An advanced drawing for special waterfowl hunts to be held Nov. 12 and 23 also is available.

Applications for the advanced drawings must be received by Oct. 14 via e-mail or U.S. mail.

Drawings will be held Oct. 15.
