Southern Illinois fishing report (5-16)

Crappie- Good to great, Fish jigs or minnows. The water is dropping and is real close to normal for this time of year.  Fish are still in the bushes we have been catching them best fishing 18”-30” deep in 3’-5’ of water.

Cat fish - Great , cut shad and worms, Fishing the creeks and ditches have been producing a lot of fish still. You can also fish on rocks, mouths of creeks, shallow necks and drifting flats and do good.

Bass- Good to excellent, Worms, rattle traps, crank baits, Jig&trailer.  Fish around bushes, lay downs, rip rap, weed beds, and drop off’s.

White bass- slow, Jig and curly tail grubs, vibrax Spinner number three. Look for them on main lake humps and droop offs.

Bluegill-  Good,  Look in the back of necks and on flat shallow banks for beds. There are always good numbers of fish around the rocks.  Fish shallow with crickets, worms or small jigs.
