Southern Illinois aerial survey

The southern IL survey was flown today but official results will not be posted until next week.  Here is a summary of today’s flight:

DUCKS

Springfield Lake – 3,000

Sangchris Lake – 2,800

Kecks - 150

Carlyle – 3,300

Rend – 5,200

Pyramid – 15,200

Cache – 6,000

Mermet – 350

Horseshoe – 35,000

Union Co. – 29,000

Crab Orchard – 1,500

Total for south sites was 95,700 ducks compared to 5-year avg of 89,750

CANADA GEESE

Springfield Lake – 19,500

Sangchris Lake – 6,200

Vandalia – 1,700

Kecks – 2,500

Carlyle – 700

10-Mile – 100

Rend – 2,000

Pyramid – 4,400

DuQuoin – 3,800

Burning Star – 6,000

Cache River – 2,800

Ballard Co. – 1,100

Swan Lake – 200

Horseshoe Lake – 7,000

Union Co. – 5,500

Crab Orchard – 23,000

Total for south sites was 60,800 Canada geese compared to 5-year avg of 18,625

SNOW GEESE

13,000 at Ballard,  6,600 at Cache River,  10 Mile Creek – 9,000,  Horseshoe Lake - 70,000.

WHITE-FRONTS

7,500 at Union Co.,  3,900 at Horseshoe Lake,  3,700 at Burning Star, 3,000 at Cache River
