Sangamon County tree sale deadline is Friday

March 28, 2012 at 09:16 PM

Prairie State Outdoors

Friday is the final day to order trees from the Sangamon County Soil and Water Conservation District.

Tree varieties available are:  Amur maple, American arborvitae, bald cypress, northern red oak, old fashion lilac, overcup oak, pecan, persimmon, redbud, serviceberry, sugar maple, tulip tree, and white flowering dogwood.

Evergreen transplants include: Colorado spruce, Douglas fir, eastern white pine, and Norway spruce.

Trees are sold in bundles of 10 for $40.

The bare root tree seedlings are 18 to 24 inches tall.

The evergreens are 4 to 5-year transplants with excellent root systems for a better survival rate.

Trees will be available to pick up at the State Fairgrounds in the Tech Town building (former Twilight Ballroom) on April 14 and 15.

We will also have a booth in the Exposition Building in conjunction with the Neuhoff (WFMB) Lawn & Garden Sale.

To place an order or for more information, contact the District office at (217) 241-6635 ext. 3 or email to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
