Parfitt and Rath win Lake Springfield catfish event

Prairie State Outdoors


Jason Rath and Bill Parfitt took first place in the Lake Springfield Open Buddy Catfish Tournament Series event held on Lake Springfield May 18.

They weighed five channel catfish and one flathead for a total of 56.7 pounds.

Mark and Bill Bozarth took second place with five channel catfish and one flathead weighing 55.8 pounds.

They also took big fish honors with a flathead weighing 31.8 pounds.

Arron Taylor and John Phiffer were third with five channel catfish and one flathead for a total of 46.5 pounds.
Twenty-nine boats competed.

The next tournament is June 22.

Signup from starts at 5 p.m. and closes at 5:45 p.m. at the beach house across from the Lindsay Bridge Boat Ramp.

Tournament hours are from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

There is a $60 per boat entry fee and an optional $10 per boat for the big fish pot.
