Officials: Davenport couple hundreds over white bass limit

June 03, 2013 at 07:48 AM

The Associated Press

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — A Davenport couple has been accused of having way too many white bass.

The state Department of Natural Resources says Jeremy Nguyen and Chi Hue Tran were charged Wednesday with three counts each of being over possession for white bass.

Officials say an anonymous tipster reported that the anglers made several trips to their car during a fishing trip on the Mississippi River this month. A search of their residence turned up nearly 130 white bass in the process of being filleted, more than 215 whole white bass and nearly 630 frozen white bass filets.

The daily limit for white bass in the Mississippi River is 25. There's a possession limit of 50.

The couple faces thousands of dollars in fines and may lose fishing privileges for two years.
