New Hampshire raising money to study and conserve Canada lynx
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — The New Hampshire Department of Fish and Game is raising money to help study Canada lynx, the endangered animal that has been found in the state in greater numbers over the last decade.
The recent sightings include last month’s discovery of four lynx kittens in northern New Hampshire.
The fundraising project will help develop a conservation plan, document their presence in the state and find the best lynx habitat.
Canada lynx are considered endangered by the state of New Hampshire. The species is on the federal “threatened” list.
Adult lynx weigh between 15 and 38 pounds and are about three feet long. They are distinguished by tufts on their ears, short tails often ringed and tipped with black and large paws that help them navigate through deep snow.
