Lake Springfield bass and catfish tournament results

Summer Trail bass tournament

Russ Angel and Randy Bruns won the first event of the Lake Springfield Summer Trail bass tournament series April 20 with a catch weighing 16.11 pounds.

Bob Penwell and Will Perkins were second with 14.13 pounds.

Steve Piatt and Mike Daley took third place with 10.94 pounds.

Angel and Bruns also took big bass honors with 5.70 pounds.

Twenty-seven boats competed.

The 22nd Annual Megabux tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call Steve Parker at 741-4255.


Fathers and sons dominate catfish tournament
Three father-son teams took the first three places in the Lake Springfield Open Buddy Catfish Tournament series event April 20.

Jerry and Dylan Cline bested 27 other teams for first place with six channel catfish weighing 45.3 pounds.

Second place went to Pete and Lou Ochs with six channel catfish totaling 37.3 pounds.

Jarvis and Nick Goodall took third with six channel catfish weighing 34.8 pounds.

The Goodalls also took the big fish award with a fish weighing 13.3 pounds.

The next tournament is May 18, with signup from 5-5:45 p.m. at the beach house across from the Lindsay Bridge Boat Ramp. Tournament hours are 6 p.m.–2 a.m.

There is a $60 per boat entry fee, with an optional $10 extra for the big fish pot.
