Illinois trapping permit drawings

A drawing will be held Saturday, October 31, 2009, for two trapping units at Jubilee College State Park.  All applicants must possess a valid trappers license and habitat stamp.The drawing will be held at the park office located 4 miles west of Kickapoo.  Take Exit 82 off of Interstate 74, North to Kickapoo, then 3 miles west on Route 150 to the main entrance to the park.  Follow the park road north to the office. Registration will start at 10:00 A.M with the drawing to be held at 11:00 A.M.


A drawing will be held Saturday, October 31, 2009, for trapping at Pekin Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area and three trapping units at Spring Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area.  Trapping is restricted to water sets only.  All applicants must possess a valid trappers license and habitat stamp. The drawings will be held at the check station located on the causeway at Spring Lake SFWA.  The check station is located 4 miles west of the Manito Blacktop (County Highway 16).  The turn off to Spring Lake is well marked on the Manito Blacktop, approximately eleven miles south of Pekin.  Registration will start at 11:00a.m. with the drawing to be held at 12:00 Noon.


A drawing will be held Saturday, October 31, 2009, for three trapping units at Mackinaw State Fish and Wildlife Area.  Trapping is restricted to water sets only.  All applicants must possess a valid trappers license and habitat stamp. The drawing will be held at the office of the Mackinaw SFWA, located 5 miles northeast of Mackinaw.  The turn off to Mackinaw SFWA is well marked on Route 9, approximately 2 ½ miles east of the town of Mackinaw.  Registration will start at 11:00a.m. with the drawing to be held at 12:00 Noon.

A public drawing for the allocation of Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Fish and Wildlife Area trapping permits will be held at 2 p.m., Sat., Oct. 10. Registration will begin at 1 p.m. at the site headquarters, located approximately five miles southeast of Chandlerville.  One permit for each of the five trapping zones will be allocated through the drawing procedure.  All persons entering the drawing must have a current 2009 trapping license in possession. At JEPC, only Egg Traps, DP (Dog Proof) Traps, box traps, cage traps and traps of similar action may be used.  Homemade dog-proof traps must be designed with a foot hold trap no larger than a number two size in an enclosed wood, metal or durable plastic container with a single access opening of no larger than 1½ inch diameter.  Body-gripping traps must be completely submerged. A public drawing for the allocation of Sangchris Lake State Park trapping permits will be held 1 p.m., Sat., Oct. 17.  Registration will be at 12:30 p.m. at the site headquarters, located approximately six miles southeast of Rochester. One permit for one trapping zone will be allocated through the drawing procedure.  Two names will be allowed on the permit, and only those individuals listed will be allowed to trap.  All persons entering the drawing must have a current 2009 trapping license in possession.  Persons whose names are drawn must be in attendance. The lake at Beall Woods State Park will be opened for trapping beginning Nov. 10, 2009. One permit will be allocated at a drawing to be held at 10 a.m. on Mon., Oct. 26 at the park office. Permit applicants must submit to the site office prior to the drawing their name, address, phone number, date of birth, and number of traps (water sets only) available for use. The successful applicant must have a valid trapping license and habitat stamp in addition to a site permit to trap at the site. For additional information, contact the Site Superintendent at 618/298-2442 or the District Wildlife Biologist at 618/393-6732.


The lake at Sam Parr State Fish and Wildlife Area will be opened for trapping beginning Nov. 10, 2009. Permits will be allocated at a drawing to be held at 7 p.m. on Mon., Oct. 26 at the Sam Parr SFWA office. Permit applicants must submit to the site office prior to the drawing their name, address, phone number, date of birth, and number of traps (water sets only) available for use. The successful applicant must have a valid trapping license and habitat stamp in addition to a site permit to trap at the site. For additional information, contact the Site Superintendent at 618/783-2661 or the District Wildlife Biologist at 618/393-6732.


Portions of Red Hills State Park and Chauncey Marsh State Natural Area will be opened for trapping beginning Nov. 10, 2009. One permit for each site will be allocated at a drawing to be held at 10 a.m. on Wed., Oct. 28 at the Red Hills park office. Permit applicants must submit to the site office prior to the drawing their name, address, phone number, date of birth, and number of traps available for use. The successful applicant(s) must have a valid trapping license and habitat stamp in addition to a site permit to trap at each site.
