Illinois State Police ranges open to hunters Nov. 10

Prairie State Outdoors

Six Illinois State Police firing range locations will be open Nov. 10 for hunters to sight-in shotguns and obtain firearms advice from sworn officers.

Firing ranges in Joliet, Pawnee, Effingham, Macomb, and Pittsfield will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Contact one of the ranges listed below before Nov. 10 to make a reservation. 

Targets and use of the range will be offered at no cost. 

Participants must possess a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card, provide their own ammunition and transport the firearm legally - unloaded and enclosed in the proper case.
