Bundren wins Illinois Bucks contest

January 26, 2009 at 09:36 PM

Voting is now closed for the Illinois Bucks.com Archery Deer of the Year.  Andy Bundren’s Union County buck (pictured above) was chosen as winner in voting that concluded on Jan. 26.

Thanks for your participation. And thanks for not stuffing the ballot box this year. Guess we Illinoisans have seen enough crooked politics to suit us all.

Here is the complete voting:

Andy Bundren 65 votes
Tyler Anderson 27
Bill Rodgers 26
Scotty Battin 16
Rodney Armstrong 0

Throughout the deer season, Illinois Bucks.com accepted photographs from deer hunters. Those selections were whittled down to five finalists in the archery competition.

Voters were asked to vote based on the following:

The contest is based on the photo submitted. Each photo submitted will be scored based on the following criteria on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being most appealing: Deer/Antlers, Background/Setting, Hunter Look/Attitude, Deer Prep, Weapon Displayed, Overall Picture Quality

Each picture submitted will be scored by 3 judges. The average of the 3 will be the final score. The top five scoring photos from archery and top five from firearm will be considered the finalists.

And what is the grand prize?

“Each winner will receive a Gander Mountain™ Gift Card, a large Illinois deer pin display plaque, an Illinoisbucks.com tee shirt and 2008 Deer of the Year bragging rights.”Illinois Outdoors

This is the fourth year winners have been selected on the Web site run by Jared Fidler of Lacon. He calls his Web site “a fun hobby.” So join in the fun. Vote here.

I like Tyler’s buck, you will probably never get anything this big again, but being as young as you are, gives you a great chance to beat this one….Way to Go, and Way to go on everyone elses, but I do like Tyler’s….

If you hunt in Union county it should not be that hard to figure out. Better yet if you have a phone book, look up Andy and than follow him around during hunting season and you can find out. I am sure that will happen to Andy next year regardless, so you might as well join the train. Some of you people really take the cake.

Look,,,,I am not gonna follow nobody to their stand so I can hunt beside them.I have my own farms in Union County with big bucks! Why are you guys so defensive? I would just like to know what part of Union did it come from.Heck,,,,Ronnie Smith outdoors TV show is filming hunts within a mile from my farm,,,,but you don’t see me running over to him trying to get his autograph. Come on guys,,,,,,
