Illinois angler dies on Lake Barkley

April 27, 2009 at 08:25 AM

MURRAY, Ky. (AP) - Two men from western Tennessee have died in a Kentucky Lake boating accident. A separate accident on nearby Lake Barkley killed an Illinois man.

The Paducah Sun reported searchers found the bodies of 66-year-old Albert Springer of Henderson, Tenn., and 60-year-old Jerry Wallace of McKenzie, Tenn., late Saturday night after their boat capsized around 5 p.m. Saturday near Patterson’s Point in Calloway County, Ky.

Deputy Calloway County Coroner Ricky Garland confirmed the identities and said Wallace’s son-in-law, Lucas Sims, survived the accident.

A state Fish and Wildlife official said earlier Saturday, 69-year-old Donald Smith of Brookport, Ill., was thrown from his bass boat and became tangled in an anchor line while his boat was under way on Lake Barkley in Lyon County.
