DNR to hold auction of abandoned and confiscated property Sept. 14

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources will conduct an auction of confiscated and abandoned property Sept. 14 in Pawnee.

The auction will be held at DNR’s Jack Perschbacher Service Center, 505 10th Street.

Bidder registration begins at 7 a.m., with the auction beginning at 9 a.m.

Bidders may inspect the merchandise beginning at 7 a.m. the day of the sale.

Buyers will be responsible to pay an eight percent buyer’s fee in addition to the purchase price.

No firearms, ATVs, snowmobiles, or vehicles will be sold.

Among some of the items offered at the auction are:

• 296 assorted deer hunting tree stands and ladders
• 19 watercraft to include canoes, v-hulls, jon boats and kayaks (no motors or trailers)
• 57compound bows
• 6 crossbows
• 87 sport fishing rods and reels
• 67 leg-hold traps
• 14 commercial fishing hoop nets
• 11 handheld spotlights
• 7 fishing tackle boxes with contents
• Boxes of cut up deer antlers and several assorted coolers.

All property at the auction will be sold as-is, and all sales will be final.

Confiscated and abandoned property auctions are conducted approximately every five years.

All proceeds are deposited into the State Wildlife and Fish Fund.

The last auction conducted in 2009 brought in $29,182.
