Deer season so far:

As of Nov. 6, archery deer-hunters had killed 33,039 deer, compared to 33,459 during the same period last year.

Deer totals in all seasons rose steadily from about 148,000 in 2000 to the record year of 2005 when hunters killed just over 201,209 deer.

Firearm season accounts for about half of the total harvest.

Since the record high, total harvest numbers have trended down slightly with 196,241 in 2006, 199,610 in 2007, 188,901 in 2008, 189,634 in 2009 and 182,270 in 2010.

Of the 182,270 deer taken in 2010, firearm season accounted for 98,944.
