Chicago cougar moving west

April 05, 2008 at 08:17 PM

The Lake County News-Sun reports that a police officer in Round Lake spotted what appeared to be a cougar near Route 134 and the Soo Line railroad tracks last Thursday.

“As he approached it, the thing sprang up, and it was so large that it took him by surprise,” Police Chief George Filenko told the Lake County News-Sun. “(The officer) described the size of the animal as like a big dog, but with a long, curled tail. The animal control officer said it was almost identical to what North Chicago described.”

The animal then ran into the woods and disappeared.

The big cat was first spotted by Mark Anderson, who lives in the Villas of Timber Creek trailer park.

A canine unit was later brought to the scene of the sighting. Dogs tracked a scent west to a creek and then stopped.

In other news about the alleged cougar, North Chicago Police have determined a large paw print tracked in the area actually belongs to a dog.

But after last Thursday’s sighting, authorities plan to continue tracking the animal.

Why is that no one believes that cougars exist, except when one is seen near the concrete jungle? The only time some of the urbanites have ever seen a cougar has been at the local bar in a pair of heels.

Run the cougar towards Blago’s house so it can eat his ass.  With all these Illinois cougar sightings you would think that one would show up on someone’s scouting camera.  Guess we have them in the wrong place.  Should have them by the concrete jungle.
