It gets hard to find new superlatives to describe efforts to establish blue catfish in Lake Springfield.

To skip fancy words and get to hard evidence, here are some photographs shared by anglers who competed in The Lake Springfield Open Buddy Catfish Tournament Series year-end Classic Oct. 6-7.

During those two days, catfish anglers brought 1,030 pounds of fish to the scales.

Twenty-five, two-man teams competed.

Blue catfish accounted for many of those pounds with fish weighing up to 81.4 pounds caught.

For the season, 4776.9 pounds of fish were caught and weighed.

First place went to Jake Branham and Doug Vandiver with a two-day total of 197.1 pounds.

Second place went to Jerry and Josh Cline with 141.1 pounds.

Mark and Bill Bozarth were third with 109.7 pounds.

The big fish was a blue catfish weighing 81.4 pounds caught by the Clines.
