Best muskie streak by a woman?

August 03, 2009 at 11:11 AM

Did Dianna Seymour (pictured above) enjoy the finest stretch of muskie fishing any woman has experienced in Illinois?

That’s the question posed by Chicago Sun-Times outdoor writer Dale Bowman in the wake of Seymour’s June trip to Lake Kinkaid with Bob Kosiewicz of Downer’s Grove and guide Chad Cain. While trolling Llungen Krushers, Seymour and Kosiewicz caught and released 19 muskies in three and a half days in June, 12 of them 41 inches or longer.

The largest was the 47-incher pictured above.

Writes Bowman in his latest column:

And it is a remarkable account: four muskies on June 1, beginning with the biggest of the trip (47 inches) and followed minutes later by the smallest of the trip (26). On June 2, they boated seven, 31 to 46 inches (five 41 or longer). On June 3, they boated four, 33 to 42 inches. On June 4, they caught four, 41 to 46 inches.

Looking over the records Kosiewicz sent, I was impressed. Then it hit me: This could be the most remarkable stretch of muskie fishing by a woman in Illinois.

Of course, that is something nearly impossible to quantify. Both the numbers and numbers of sizable fish are what make Seymour’s catch so memorable.

I wish when PSO has stories like this, they would list how to contact the guides involved with the story?
