Archery hunters close out season just off last year’s pace

Prairie State Outdoors

As of Monday morning, the Illinois archery deer harvest stood at 61,818 deer, compared with 63,597 killed during the 2010 - 2011 season.

Numbers are from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ direct monitor website.

All deer-hunting seasons, including archery and the late-winter, antlerless-only and special chronic wasting disease seasons, concluded Sunday.

The top counties so far:

Pike, 2,951

Fulton, 1,819

Jefferson, 1,431

Adams, 1,355

Peoria,  1,201

No surprise here, another almost 3% decline in the kill total…..8^(

I said it before land access is a big reason for the decline. Dont worry the deer are still here just not where you are hunting!
