7 Wisconsin fishing records set

June 11, 2010 at 03:00 PM

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - State wildlife officials say seven state “alternate method” fishing records have fallen since February.

The Department of Natural Resources says six of the record fish, including a short nose gar, a sheepshead and a spotted sucker, were taken with a bow and arrow. The seventh, a 212-pound sturgeon, was taken with a spear.

The fish came from waters around the state, including the Wisconsin River in Grant County, the Mississippi and Trempealeau rivers and Lake Winnebago. A complete list of the record holders is available on the DNR’s Web site.
