Jim Crowley and decoy carver and good friend Pat Gregory were blessed with a double on the KING of Ducks during layout hutning. Jim said he was having his Drake mounted as a trophy. He said if you have never layout hunted, its an amazing experience as the birds can end up right on top of you 2 feet off the water right in your face. “It’s a challenge to harvest these birds as they fly by so fast. Incredible day!” he wrote.
After a few tries, the pump motor roared to life, and water began gushing Wednesday into a duck-hunting area at Sangchris Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area near Rochester. Fish are a lot less active in the middle of the day, when temperatures are as high as they have been. Bass are still biting hard just about everywhere and catfish have been active in evenings.
