Why those top-water mice lures work
Ever wonder how they came up with top-water mice and rat lures? Ponder no longer. This week Flathead has sent us a series of pictures that explain the mystery. This 13-inch bass was at The Nature Conservancy’s Emiquon Preserve near Havana. Writes Flathead:
“This bass was very full, and as you can see it ate what appears to be a meadow vole. Maybe the mouse bass fishing lure in my dad’s tackle box was not a joke!”
Flathead also said his survey at Emiquon showed “a very strong largemouth bass population from 8 to 14 inches. These fish were produced from last year’s bass spawn and are growing at a good rate. The bluegill, pumpkinseed sunfish and black crappie also had a very good spawn and recruitment this year.”
Sounds like we’ll be fishing Emiquon hard next summer. And bring your top-water mice.
