Spring Lake yields a 9-12 bass
The rumors are true. Stories claiming a 9-pound, 12-ounce bass was caught at Spring Lake on Saturday on a spinnerbait were all true.
Bob Fernetti sent the above picture of himself with his fish and this description of the tournament.
“Here is a picture of the 9 pound, 12 ounce bass caught at Spring Lake Saturday May 24, 2008. It was caught by Bob Fernetti. The fish was caught on the south end of the lake and was released back where it was caught. It hit a chartreuse spinner bait around 8:30 a.m. It was 25 inches long. The tournament was a work-sponsored event by Excel Foundry and Machine. There was 18 2-man teams. Bob won the big bass of course. First place was won by Terry Fleeharty and Mike Howard with 16 lbs 4 oz. Second place honors went to Chad Railey and Aaron Session with 15lbs 8 oz and third place went to Bill and Chuck Hudnall with 14 lbs 8 oz.”
So let’s recap the history of south Spring Lake. Two years ago we had a 9-pounder. Last year the lake coughed up a 10-pounder. And this year another almost 10-pounder. Not bad for a public body of water that is pounded by tournament anglers all spring.
