DNR staffers rescue flooded deer
Over the past few years, I’ve been informed now and then by folks that I am, “anti-DNR.”
That’s not true and never will be. Yes, I am anti-Blagojevich. Yes, I think the leadership in the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is poor at present. Yes, the communications department in the DNR is not what it once was. And yes, the DNR has been cut to a point where it can’t function like it should. To me that’s factual, not the product of some deep-seated animosity toward the DNR.
But I’ve never been anti-DNR. How could I be when there are field staffers who still work hard at their jobs despite all the silliness in Springfield? How could I be when there are folks willing to make the extra effort like these conservation police officers did recently to rescue deeer at the Sny Levee in Adams County south of Quincy. Thanks to Gary Carter Jr. for sharing the pictures that tell a good tale of what the DNR can do when staffers are allowed to work (and not shackled by stupid gas allowances).
