Wildflower and tree sale set for April 14-15
Prairie State Outdoors
Lincoln Memorial Garden & Nature Center, 2301 East Lake Shore Drive, will hold a spring wildflower and tree sale April 14-15.
Hours are 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. April 14 and 1 - 4 p.m. April 15.
Wildflowers available include bluebells, trillium, woodland poppies, bloodroot, mayapples, jack-in-the-pulpits, wild geranium, several varieties of ferns, and more.
Prices range from $4 to $6.
A variety of trees and shrubs will be available at this sale.
These woody species are bare root native stock, between two to five feet tall, and priced from $5 to $15.
Trees and shrubs offered for sale include redbud, dogwood, witch hazel, sugar maple, swamp white and shumard oak, river birch, silverbell, and many more.
A prairie wildflower sale will be held May 19-20.
Over two dozen species of wildflowers will be on sale, including such popular favorites as purple coneflower, royal catchfly, and butterfly weed.
Prairie enthusiasts might enjoy adding queen of the prairie, lead plant, or prairie smoke to their garden or restoration.
Most wildflowers will be priced around $5 for a second-year plant.
