Whooping cranes in Illinois

Whooping cranes have made up ground in the past week and are finally in Illinois.
The birds are currently in Winnebago County and did not fly today due to high winds.
The group of 20 young cranes are three weeks into their 1,285-mile migration and made up 130.4 of those miles this week.
