Utah deer hunt opens Saturday
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The general rifle deer hunt in Utah is getting under way.
The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources says the hunt that opens Saturday is Utah’s most popular. More than 70,000 hunters, plus family and friends, are expected in Utah’s forests and hills.
The weather this weekend should be cool and dry.
The division’s big game coordinator, Anis Aoude, says the weather this past spring and winter were excellent for mule deer, meaning hunters might see a few more deer when the hunt opens.
The division also is reminding hunters to be safe by packing a survival kit, getting familiar with the area they’re traveling to, never hunting alone and not drinking alcohol while out hunting.
