Upcoming events at Adams Wildlife Sanctuary

Here is a list of upcoming events at the Adams Wildlife Sanctuary, 2315 Clear Lake Ave. in Springfield

Feb. 8

The Springfield Audubon Society is hosting a field trip to the 14th Annual Eagle Day Festival in Havana.

Meet in the Illinois Audubon parking lot at 8 a..m to carpool to the festival.

Feb. 16

The Adams Wildlife Sanctuary will have its regular workday starting at 1 p.m.

Feb. 20

The Illinois Raptor Center will present a program on hawk identification starting at 6 p.m.

Live birds will be featured.

Admission is $5, and seating is limited.

Feb. 22

Fran Harty, director of special projects for The Nature Conservancy in Illinois, will host a hands-on workshop on the rats and mice of Illinois from 9 – 10:30 a.m.

Participants will get to handle the skins and skulls of most of the lesser-known wild mammals in the state.

Harty will talk about their biology and natural history and will also share stories and myths about these small animals.

Seating is limited to 30.
