Rain hampering crop harvest
October 26, 2009 at 10:31 PM
Rain hampered harvest through the end of last week and into this weekend.
Prior to that, farmers had been able to get into the fields and made some progress on soybeans. Even so, soybean harvest is at just 33 percent statewide—compared to the five-year average of 86 percent.
And corn harvest remains even slower, with just 14 percent of the crop in compared to the five-year average of 77 percent. Last year at this time, 44 percent of the corn crop was harvested.
Here’s the complete report for this week.
