PSO welcomes Jason Johns
Prairie State Outdoors.com is happy to add Jason Johns (pictured above at right) to our lineup of bloggers.
Click here to check out his new Weg log, called Jason’s Journeys.
Johns is a full-time fishing and hunting
guide who grew up near Rend Lake in the small town of Whittington. Johns works for Todd Gessner Outdoors guiding anglers and hunters and also dabbles in duck hunting as a guide with A+ Stuttgart Guide Service.
His blog will be called Jason’s Journeys and is designed to reflect his love for hunting and fishing in southern Illinois. In the weeks to come, we’ll report on what Jason is doing, what he’s been hearing and where he’s headed next. The plan right now is to file reports on Mondays and Thursdays.
My first meeting with Jason was about seven years ago when we went on a fruitless squirrel hunt with my new (very used) .22 rifle. We saw plenty of squirrels but neither of us could hit a thing. Turns out the sights were real bad on that gun. “I just assumed you being an outdoor writer and all you’d have a gun that was sighted-in,” Johns said.
Nowadays he knows better.
Most recently Johns (staring at an asparagus spear in the picture below) guided Dale Bowman from the Chicago Sun-Times and me on a wild asparagus hunt. We had a ball. The hope is you will do the same through Jason’s blog.
