Praise for Chicago’s 95th St. ramp
The new dock at the 95th Street boat launch in Chicago met with rave reviews recently in a column by Dale Bowman of the Chicago Sun-Times.
And the new dock was a much-need improvement, says Bowman.
Over the years, the launch at 95th Street deteriorated into a junk pile that never would have been tolerated at swankier lakefront settings on the North Side or even farther up the South Side.
Fishermen like the 95th Street launch because it provides ready access to both Indiana and Illinois waters, and to the Calumet River system—waters loaded with a wild variety of fish: yellow perch, coho, browns, chinook, bass and growing numbers of northern pike and walleye.
