Portions of Fox River open to boats

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources lifted boating restrictions Monday north of the Stratton-Bolger Lock and Dam in McHenry.
But the river south of the dam is still closed to boating.
Fox Waterway Agency Chairman Howard “Bud” Scott told the Northwest Herald he heard that the IDNR could open the river south of the dam by Wednesday if dry weather persisted. Not so said DNR spokesperson Chris McCloud.
“We don’t set a timetable; we have no idea what the weather is going to do,” McCloud said. “We just monitor the conditions day by day and watch out when we do reopen that those hazardous conditions are gone.”
