RINDGE, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire officials using an underwater remote camera have found no trace of the operator of a snowmobile found partially submerged in Emerson Pond in Rindge.
New Hampshire Fish and Game officials say while no victim was found, personnel at the scene report seeing frozen footprints leading away from the hole in the ice.
Firefighters were trying to retrieve the snowmobile Friday, but it slipped under the ice.
The search has been suspended due to poor ice conditions and darkness.
Conservation officers canvassed nearby homes in hopes of identifying the rider, but were unsuccessful.
Officials warn that ice conditions throughout the state are marginal and snowmobile riders and others should use caution.
