Chronic wasting disease tests have found nine new positives as of last week among deer killed during the archery and firearm seasons in northern Illinois.
Not all tests have been completed on this year’s hunter-harvested deer.
Boone County had four of the new cases, while Winnebago and DeKalb counties had two each and McHenry County one. Last year 30 new cases were discovered.
The latest cases brings Illinois’ total to 266 since the first diseased deer was found near Roscoe in 2002.
