Mississippi man appeals hunting ban

ABERDEEN, Miss. (AP) — A Mississippi man has appealed a three-year hunting ban to a federal judge.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (http://bit.ly/PImdvn) that J. Bradley Pounds was convicted in August of four offenses related to National Park Service citations that he hunted at night with headlights during open season for deer along the Natchez Trace Parkway.
U.S. Magistrate David A. Sanders ordered Pounds to pay a $2,850 fine by Sept. 30. Sanders also ordered the three-year hunting ban and told Pounds to surrender hunting license.
Pounds claimed he was there to kill hogs, which were damaging his soybean crops nearby.
Pounds was found guilty of spotlighting, hunting from a roadway, open alcohol container in his vehicle and littering.
Pounds has now asked a U.S. District Court judge to look at his case.
