Man shot by arrow while hunting seriously injured
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a man injured by an arrow his friend accidentally fired while hunting near Jacksonville was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 36-year-old John Matthew Whigham of Fleming Island was treated at Shands Jacksonville on Wednesday. His condition was not released Friday.
Whigham was hunting with his friend, 40-year-old Randy Pritchard, in Jennings State Forest. The sheriff’s office report says Pritchard was in a tree stand and lost sight of Whigham. When he saw movement in the bushes below, Pritchard said he thought it was a deer and fired an arrow. Pritchard told deputies he never meant to hit Whigham.
The arrow hit Whigham’s back, its tip in his upper arm. Whigham pulled out the arrow and called police.

When will these idiots ever learn, YOU DO NOT SHOOT AT MOVEMENT OR NOISE. Guess you can’t fix stupid
How could this be called an accident?
The guy who shot the arrow should be prosecuted for “hunting under the influence of negligent stupidity”.
What a dope
We sure they were that good of friends? Sounds like attempt murder 2 me.
Any good hunter knows you need to see what your shooting at before you shoot. Like a guy out were I hunt “accidently” shot a man walking his dog near the hunting area, shot the man and the dog. Hopefully the guy feels horrible and it should be an everlasting lesson to know what your shooting before you shoot.
their is no way possible to mistake a man for a deer. please keep this man out of the woods. I hunt in that same park
